On Sunday March 5, 2017 at approximately 0219hrs, Halton Regional Police attended a single vehicle collision on Britannia Road, west of Highway 25 in the Town of Milton. Information was received that a vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a tree, resulting in injuries to the occupants.
Emergency services arrived on the scene and began to treat the three occupants of the vehicle. It was determined that the male driver, a twenty-two year old Mississauga resident, sustained minor injuries. The front seat passenger, a seventeen year old female who lived in Milton, also suffered minor injuries. Both were treated in local hospital. The rear seat passenger, a seventeen year old female who lived in Milton, suffered critical injuries and was transported to a trauma centre.
Due to the nature of the injuries, the Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. It was determined that the four door Mazda involved in the collision, was travelling eastbound on Britannia Road when it left the roadway and entered the ditch on the south side of the road. The Mazda then struck several trees before coming to rest back on Britannia Road.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Any witnesses to the collision, who haven’t spoken to police, are urged to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at (905) 825-4747 extension 5065.
