On Tuesday July 4th 2017 at approximately 2:47 a.m. Halton Regional Police received a call for service involving a suspect committing thefts from motor vehicles in the area of Bronte Street South and McLaughlin Avenue in the Town of Milton.
Upon arrival, responding officers located and arrested an accused young person who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Numerous stolen items were recovered including Canadian currency, jewelry, gift cards, debit cards, and credit cards.
Further investigation revealed that several unlocked motor vehicles in the area had been targeted. The accused youth was subsequently charged with multiple criminal offences in relation to the incidents.
Police are reminding residents to be proactive when it comes to their personal safety by removing valuables and always locking their vehicles. Other prevention tips include installing motion-activated outdoor lights and audible car alarms.
